Playa Vista Pools and Dog Parks Reopen After Covid-19 Closure

This Saturday, the Playa Vista pools and dog parks will reopen after being closed and empty for weeks. Important new guidelines will regulate the spaces including lower maximum occupancies, mandatory social distancing and frequent sanitization of high-touch surfaces by staff. PVPAL made the announcement in an email to residents on Thursday evening.

Pool facilities will be managed using a wrist bands distributed by PVPAL personel to limit the number of occupants and how long individuals stay at the pool. Only 50 people will be allowed in the pool facility at a time and fewer than 10 will be allowed actually inside the pool at a time. Only 1 person or “family unit” will be allowed in the spas at a time. Face masks are required.

All three dog parks (Bluff Creek, Oberrieder and Longwood) will also reopen with lower maximum capacities as well. Only 15 people will be allowed in each fenced off side of each park. Face masks are also required in the dog parks. No wrist band system or entry/exit protocols were described for the dog parks other than the mention of “immediate closure” if regulations were not followed.

Here’s the announcement in its entirety:

It is with much happiness I share that this Saturday, May 30th the communities three dog parks and both pool facilities will be reopening.  We know many of you are just as happy as we are to see these amenities reopen.  PVPAL is making every effort to clean and sanitize high touch areas multiple times throughout the day to help stop the spread of COVID-19.  We encourage park and pool users who may be concerned about whether a door handle, bench or chaise lounge, etc. is clean to feel free to wear gloves and/or bring your own disinfecting wipes to use on a surface before use.

The following are new guidelines which will be in place until further notice and are in addition to all existing facility and park use guidelines.  Where new guidelines are stricter than existing guidelines, the new guidelines supersede the lessor restrictive guideline.
